This year too, the World Women’s Day fell on 08th March 2016. On the occasion of celebrating this special day, at the outset, glowing tribute was paid to the distinguished late Prime Ministers in the caliber of Mrs. Sirima R. D. Bandaranayake of Sri Lanka, who was the first female Prime Minister and Head of Govement in the World, Mrs. Margaret Thatcher of England (who was known as the Iron Lady), Mrs. Benazir Bhutto of Pakistan & Mrs. Indira Ghandhi of India, all of them who held sway in their respective countries. In order to celebrate the World Women’s Day, Sri Lanka National Federation of the Visually Handicapped (Women Unit) had organized a function which was held on 12th March 2016 at the National Headquarters of Young Women Christian Association (YWCA) at Rotunda Gardens, Colombo 03, Sri Lanka.
At this function the visually handicapped Mothers and Sisters from all four coers of the country (who were members of the visually handicapped Women Unit) congregated at the YWCA, Colombo 03. On this occasion, Mr. Maniymuthu, Proprietor of Marlbo Trading Company, provided them with Dry Rations and they were also gifted with Sarees which were specially got down from India for this particular event. Mr. Prasanna Wickramasinghe, Joint Secretary of Sri Lanka National Federation of the Visually Handicapped and Chairman of the Central Province was instrumental in arranging for this opportunity which enabled Mr. Maniymuthu to distribute Dry Rations and Sarees to the visually handicapped Mothers and Sisters at the aforementioned YWCA.
