The seminar and demonstration on Fluke testing and measuring instruments were held today (June 5, 2014) at the Taj Samudra Hotel in Colombo. The chief guest was Dr. Narendra de Silva the Head of Engineering, Lanka Electricity Company (Private) Limited.
In his speech, he mentioned that the starting point of developing engineering requires good metrological facilities, for which meters are required. He stressed the importance of having the best instruments available. As a student, he has obtained a Fluke multimeter, which was an iconic symbol for someone doing electronics. He congratulated Fluke and Marlbo Trading Company which is present in a very vibrant manner in Sri Lanka.
There were about one hundred and fifty participants who were mainly Electrical Engineers from private sector organisations and some from public sector organisations. The participants were from Dialog, Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau, Fonterra Brands Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd., National Engineering Research and Development Centre, Arthur C. Clarke Institute for Modern Technology, Public Utilities Commission, Industrial Technology Institute, Sri Lanka Ports Authority, Mobitel Private Limited, Ceylon German Technical Training Institute, Access Projects, Aitken Spence Hotel Management, Universities, Nestle Lanka PLC, Abans Engineering (Pvt.) Ltd., Ansell Lanka, AES Kelanitissa (Pvt.) Ltd. and several other organisations.
The main speaker was Mr. Nguyen Ho Nam from Fluke South East Asia in Singapore. He is a young engineer with considerable knowledge on the latest Fluke technology. He has been conducting seminars and workshops for Fluke within different regions. They have been very successful and insightful for the participants taking part in the seminars. Since its founding in 1948, Fluke has been providing testing and measuring instruments of very good quality and also giving innovative solutions for the power and electrical needs throughout the world.
