In celebration of International Women’s Day 2026, observed globally on 8th March, Marlbo Trading Company held a meaningful event on 6th March to honor the strength and achievements of women. The program began with the lighting of the traditional oil lamp, followed by welcoming our distinguished chief guest Prof. Ilmi G. N. Hewajulige – Director General / CEO of Industrial Technology Institute, guest speaker Ms. Thushara Wickramasingha – Child Rights Promotion Officer of Department of Probation and Childcare Services, along with other special invitees.
The event began with a short video presentation on the history of International Women’s Day and women’s empowerment. Addressing the audience, Mr. Neel Weedagama, CEO of Marlbo, encouraged the staff by highlighting the importance of embracing the opportunities presented to them and striving to give their very best.
Prof. Hewajulige shared her inspiring journey and experiences that led to her success, encouraging the women of Marlbo to pursue their ambitions with confidence. Ms. Thushara Wickramasingha also spoke on the importance of safeguarding women and making wise decisions in life.
The speeches were motivating and served as a strong encouragement to all Marlbo staff, making the celebration both inspiring and empowering.
