The seminar and demonstration on Fluke testing and measuring instruments were held today (June 6, 2014) at the Taj Samudra Hotel in Colombo. The chief guest was Mr. N. C. Sapumanage the Director – Inspectorate of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka.
In his speech, he mentioned that today we in Sri Lanka are in a developing stage and the Central Bank is expecting the country to move from a poor to middle income country. In the past solutions to problems were relatively easy. However today we have very complex systems and measurements are important. Hence we require sophisticated instruments. He also stressed that harmonic analysis is necessary to investigate the ground situation. He explained the importance of the thermal imager instrument. He said that instruments assists in reducing the manpower requirement for the complex work done today reducing cost. He in addition said that it is important to have good quality instruments as an accuracy of results is essential.
There were about one hundred participants who were mainly Electrical Engineers from the Ceylon Electricity Board and the Lanka Electricity Company (Private) Limited. The main speaker was Mr. Nguyen Ho Nam from Fluke South East Asia in Singapore. He is a young engineer with considerable knowledge on the latest Fluke technology. He has been conducting seminars and workshops for Fluke within different regions. They have been very successful and insightful for the participants taking part in the seminars. Since its founding in 1948, Fluke has been providing testing and measuring instruments of very good quality and also giving innovative solutions for the power and electrical needs throughout the world.
